DAY 27: COMBO MEAL

I was going to take a ZUMBA class, but a very stiff lower back told me it was not a good idea. Instead, I did around 45 minutes of stretching and then did a 30-minute core conditioning class.

The walk to and from the Y in the cold night air felt great after being at a desk for a lot of the day.

DAYS 24-26 AWAY FROM HOME

22,23,24
I was mostly away from home during these days so just did a little walking each day.

DAYS 21-23: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WALKING

January 19-21

Admittedly, after Monday's ZUMBA class, I fell off the YMCA bandwagon. It seemed like my body needed a break. So I did a bit of walking each day.

I found a friend who wants to have a workout date at the new Armory YMCA and also traded emails with my YMCA workout buddy, so that helped me step it up a bit.

Also, have already mapped out which classes I think I will take each day next week.

I think the next step will be setting up a free consult with a fitness instructor at the Y to figure out a routine to do on the days I don't take classes.

DAY TWENTY: ALMA BONILLA, MY FITNESS HEROINE

Monday, January 18

This was an action-packed day. First, I got in line EARLY to get tickets to BAM's Martin Luther King Day program. After coming home from that amazing event and having a 20 minute nap, I headed back out to the Dodge Y for Alma Bonilla's ZUMBA class. This time, it was in the gymnasium, so there was more room to move around.

Alma's ZUMBA classes get so crowded, sometimes it is difficult to move to the left or the right. She is so full of zest and enthusiasm and it is CONTAGIOUS!!!!! This woman works you to the bone but somehow leaves you wanting to come back for more.

She has a great body so you know the workouts are paying off for her. PLUS, she looks like she is someone who is giving a lot to other people and getting a lot back!

I told Alma that she is my FITNESS HEROINE!!!!

DAY NINETEEN: WALKIN' IT OFF AT THE PARK SLOPE FOOD COOP

Every month, I work for about 3 hours at The Park Slope Food Coop. This entails walking with people and their grocery carts to their car, apartment, or bus stop. With all the walking I did to and from the co-op on my shift, methinks it counts toward my daily 30-minutes!
